ABC Taiwan Electronics Corp. (affiliated to ABC-ATEC Electronics Group, worldwide) has formally joined the association of OPEN Alliance SIG since June 1st, 2020. ABC Taiwan Electronics Corp. is now an official “Adopter” member of OPEN Alliance. According to the agreement of membership, we will fully support the adoption of single-pair (one pair of twisted wires) Ethernet to be used in the current automotive industry and applications of factory automation. To achieve the goal, ABC Taiwan Electronics Corp. already has had products of magnetic components (common mode choke) and is still developing new magnetic products for such applications. Since single-pair Ethernet, by nature, has its unique merits and cost incentives in those applications, we foresee its booming trend in the near future. Furthermore, single-pair Ethernet has better EMC performance than the traditional Ethernet, where there are multiple pairs of twisted wires and may induce or produce more electromagnetic interference. Common mode chokes make significant contribution on EMC improvement in the single-pair Ethernet applications, and would also help single-pair Ethernet gradually dominate the specific market. ABC Taiwan Electronics Corp. is one of the key suppliers that offers such common mode choke products in the industry nowadays.
“OPEN Alliance SIG” stands for “One Pair Ether-Net Alliance Special Interest Group”, which is a non-profit, open industry alliance founded by the major companies in automotive industry and semiconductor field in Nov. 2011. Main focus is through collaborating between members to encourage wide scale adoption of Ethernet-based networks as the standard in automotive networking applications.
The member companies of the OPEN Alliance SIG take advantage of the scalability and flexibility of Ethernet to allow for cost effective communication networks in vehicles with reduced complexity. An Ethernet-based communication network is also a key infrastructure element for future customer functions like autonomous driving and the connected car. Since its inception, the OPEN Alliance SIG has surged to more than 390 members now.
